Morning Glories

don't know what happened
when you walked out the door
you weren't up for talking
you just drove off in your car
you gave me some hope
when you waved your goodbye
you wouldn't have bothered
if it was the last time

the morning is heavy
with the promise of spring
morning glories on the fence
thirstin' for rain
I know how they feel
when the summer rolls in
you can't do a thing
when the air is so dense

we've seen a lot of sunshine
we've been through some winds
and when most have fallen
we're still standing here
but mornings like these
I feel so alone
I can't find myself
until you're back home
